I usually gargle a cup solution of 1/4 cup of salt + 3/4 cup warm water every 6 hours when I have soar throat. Depending how strong of a bacterial/viral infection you have, soar throat can go away as little as 1 day of doing this.

I don’t have a long necked salt bottle so I rolled up salt in a 1 inch x 3 inch piece of paper (like a straw) and then delivered it into my throat. Instant relief!! It may be placebo to some extent too but I am soooo glad that it worked & I am relieved from this useless pain.
